A Bohemian Summer with Elan
The ready to wear brand out of Miami is inspired by travel, sun and sand! A family owned business that dresses the trend-driven woman. We spoke with Elan about their latest collection as we gear up for SwimShow and a fabulous summer!
SS: The Summer season is just around the corner, what can shoppers look forward to from your brand as the weather warms?
E: As the summer approaches, our brand will be moving into brighter colors and prints as well as neutrals, some even with a little shimmer. Fabrications will include soft cottons, linens, rayon models in flowy, summery silhouettes, lots of dresses and sets as well as some cut out bodies showing some skin.
SS: While recent times have left people eager and ready to wear their favorite outfits and spend time outside with friends - what have you reflected on in the past year? How has it changed your outlook / philosophy from lifestyle to the design room?
E: We have seen a lot of changes in the last couple of years due to unforeseen circumstances, however we just kept moving forward planning our next collections as usual which really paid off as people were ready to get out travel and shop. Things are constantly changing as should we.
SS: You might already know what our favorite city is.... but why is yours Miami?! Kidding! Tell us a bit about your travel inspirations, favorite place on earth and a place you would love to visit - but have not yet.
E: Miami is one my favorite places as it’s my home and it has been especially kind to us in the last couple of years. That being said, travel is my passion. My wife and I travel often and get lots of inspiration by doing so. London and Paris are our go to cities for Fall/Winter whereas Italy, Greece, Israel and islands of Turkey have been great inspiration for Spring, Summer and Resort. My favorite place on earth is hard to say as there are so many and each have their own charm. Places I have not been to but looking forward to visiting are Morocco, the Galapagos and Africa to safari.
SS: The swim and resort wear community have one thing in common - you design for people that like to enjoy life under the sun. Tell us about where you are from and if/howit influences your designs?
E: Well, that is easy since we are from Miami so “life under the sun” inspiration is all around us. Also there is a strong Latin influence here which adds a touch from so many different countries and cultures.
SS: We're all on Instagram and TikTok and find that every day, you can come across dozens, if not hundreds, of new influencers. Who are some of your favorite social media influencers and why?
E: For this answer I will quote my daughters who handle our social media. Some of our favorite influencers are Sofia Morgan @shecomesincolors, Carolina Silva @caroninstyle, Carolina Lindo @imnotsorrydarling and Rachel Love @rachelove. We have chosen them because they are all amazing influencers who speak to our ideal customer and directly appeal to the right audience for our brand. They produce beautiful content, are consistent and very easy to work with.
